In 2024, St Paul's celebrates the 175th anniversary of its founding as the first Episcopal parish in the Gold Rush settlement that was to become the city of Sacramento.
We invite you to follow along with us here and in person as we explore St. Paul's history and joyfully work to be a loving, accepting Christian community serving all people…presently and long into the future!
Bishop Megan Traquair visited St. Paul's on August 18, 2024 to participate in a celebratory procession from the site of the first Episcopal prayer service in Sacramento, past the site of St. Paul'sfirst and second building and on to St. Paul's current church building for a special anniversary worship service. Parishioners wrote up a history of the past 25 years to add to an exisiting history compiled for the 150th anniversary – included a new history documenting St. Paul's stained glass windows – to create this 175th Anniversary History of St. Paul's.
Throughout St. Paul's 175th year, we will be sharing many of our historical documents, including photos, newspaper transcripts, compiled histories from previous milestone anniversary celebrations, and diocesan reports. This page will change throughout the year. Check back frequently to read more about us!
And please join us for worship on Sundays at 10 a.m. in our historic building at 15th and J Streets!
