A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols is the Christmas Eve service held in King's College Chapel. The service was introduced in 1918 to bring a more imaginative approach to worship.
The story of the fall of humanity, the promise of the Messiah, and the birth of Jesus is told in nine short Bible readings or lessons from Genesis, the prophetic books and the Gospels, interspersed with the singing of Christmas carols, hymns and choir anthems.
St. Paul's will offer a service of Christmas Lessons and Carols inspired by the King's College servce on the First Sunday after Christmas, December 29, during its usual 10 a.m. worship service.
