St. Paul's clergy and lay ministers will offer the Imposition of Ashes and prayers on the sidewalk outside the church at the corner of 15th and J Streets from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Ash Wednesday.
Ashes are a reminder of our mortality and a call to repentance. They belong to the public spaces and the daily work of our lives, not just to the times and spaces of the regular worshiping community. As the Episcopal Church in the heart of downtown, St. Paul's community will meet people where they are -- on their way or during a break in the work day -- just as Jesus went into the streets to find, teach and heal people.
Ashes to Go moves the encounter with God out of the church building and into the spaces of everyday life
where we live out our response to God. Please stop by for this brief encounter!
A full Ash Wednesday service with Scripture, Holy Eucharist and Imposition of Ashes will be held a 12:10 p.m. on Ash Wednesday, March 5, inside St. Paul's Church. All are welcome!
